Welcome!
I wanted to write a quick note to all of you to kick things off. To be honest, the whole idea of keeping this blog makes me feel a little cheesy. But I know that some of you are curious/excited about or amused/confused by for my upcoming adventures, and I thought this might be a good alternative to mass emails. This way, anyone who wants to hear about how my socks stink, or how I held a chicken for the first time and felt its fluffy heart beat, or how I am perfectly safe and happy (Grandmother!) can pull this up and read away. But none of those things will show up in your inbox unrequested.
So what exactly am I doing? I'm moving to Costa Rica on the 15th of October. I will be staying with a Costa Rican family there who owns a small family farm and invites volunteers to stay with them. My impression is that my first responsibilities will revolve around collecting and washing eggs. (Yay!)
I'm unsure as to what my internet access will be there, so I can't say exactly how often I will be updating here. I expect that whenever I am in a town with access, however, I will pop on to drop a quick note and some pictures. I can't wait to share this with all of you!
I leave in four days - I can't believe it. I've been planning on and dreaming about going abroad again since I graduated, and it's finally all come together. Right now I'm focusing my energy on checking and re-checking my packing list (more on that later), loading up my kindle with tons of reading material, and eating all the foods I will so dearly miss next year.
¡Hasta luego!
